Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy

How we work with you, how we handle your data, and the rules that govern use of this site.

Last updated: 7 August 2026

1. Who we are

This site is operated by Businessopedia Limited ("Businessopedia", "we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales. Our registered office is Westminster House, 10 Westminster Road, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1BX.

Businessopedia is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). We don't need to be, as we operate on a white-labelled, introducer basis for our partner firms, who are themselves regulated where relevant to the product or service in question. We nonetheless maintain a full compliance framework and internal policies covering data protection, consent and marketing standards.

We are registered with the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), reference ZB849295. You can verify any data controller's registration at ico.org.uk.

2. What Businessopedia does

We generate verified, opt-in enquiries and package ready-to-place cases across a range of product lines, including motor finance, legal claims, debt management plans, business energy procurement, home improvement, life insurance, commercial finance and bespoke white-labelled campaigns.

In practice, this means: when you submit an enquiry through one of our forms, or respond to one of our campaigns, we pass your details to the relevant partner firm or firms who can help with your enquiry (each a "Partner"). Those Partners then contact you directly to discuss your enquiry and, where relevant, to progress a claim, application or quote on your behalf.

You are under no obligation to proceed with any Partner we introduce you to, and you are free to choose whether or not to engage with any offer, quote or service they provide.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Information you give us

When you complete a form, call us, or otherwise get in touch, we typically collect: your name, contact details (email address, phone number, postal address), and details relevant to your enquiry (for example, the type of claim, agreement or product you're asking about).

Depending on the enquiry, we may ask for further details relevant to assessing eligibility — for example, dates of agreements, employer details, or, in limited circumstances, information that is more sensitive in nature. We will only collect this where it is necessary and relevant to your enquiry, and we will always make clear on the form what we're asking for and why.

3.2 Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we automatically collect some technical information when you visit our site, including your IP address, browser type, device information, and how you interact with our pages. We use this to keep the site secure, understand how it's used, and improve it over time.

3.3 Call recording

Where we or our in-house call centre speak with you by phone, calls may be recorded and monitored for training, quality assurance and compliance purposes, including AI-assisted call scoring. We may share relevant extracts of a recording with a Partner where necessary to resolve a query or dispute about your enquiry.

4. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work properly, to understand how visitors use it, and — where you consent — to measure and improve our marketing. You can control cookies through your browser settings at any time, and you'll be asked for your preferences when you first visit the site.

5. How we use your information

What we doWhy (our legal basis)
Passing your enquiry to one or more relevant Partners so they can contact you about itYour consent, given when you submit the enquiry
Verifying that an enquiry is genuine and not automated or fraudulentOur legitimate interest in running a trustworthy service
Recording and monitoring calls for quality and complianceOur legitimate interest in service quality and regulatory compliance
Sending you information about similar products or services, where you haven't opted outConsent, or the "soft opt-in" exemption for existing enquirers under PECR
Keeping the site secure and preventing abuse (e.g. blocking suspicious IP addresses)Our legitimate interest in protecting the site and our users
Improving our service, including through aggregated/anonymised reportingOur legitimate interest in running and improving our business

6. Sharing your information

We share your enquiry details with the Partner(s) best placed to help with it. We do this securely, and we don't sell your data to unrelated third parties or hand it to advertising networks to build unrelated profiles about you.

We also work with a small number of trusted suppliers who process data on our behalf — for example, CRM and telephony providers, and cloud hosting providers — under contracts that require them to protect your data properly.

Where a Partner is based outside the UK, or where our suppliers store data outside the UK, we take steps to make sure your data continues to receive an appropriate level of protection, in line with UK data protection law.

7. How long we keep your data

We keep your enquiry data for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfil the purpose it was collected for — typically for the duration of any active claim or case, plus a limited period afterwards to handle any follow-up queries. Where you've asked to hear from us about future offers and haven't opted out, we'll keep your marketing preferences on file until you ask us to stop, or until you stop engaging with our communications for an extended period. After these periods, data is either securely deleted or anonymised.

8. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct data that's inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data, in certain circumstances;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing;
  • ask for your data in a portable format, where relevant; and
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we're relying on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@businessopedia.co.uk or write to us at the address above. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.

9. Marketing preferences

Where we send you marketing communications, we'll always give you a clear way to opt out — for example, an unsubscribe link in every email. You can also opt out at any time by emailing info@businessopedia.co.uk. Once you've opted out, we'll stop sending you marketing messages, though we may still need to contact you about an active enquiry or case.

10. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including secure transmission of data to our Partners and access controls on our internal systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your data as safe as possible.

11. Website terms of use

By using this website, you agree to use it only for lawful purposes and in a way that doesn't restrict or inhibit anyone else's use of it. Content on this site — including text, graphics and branding — belongs to Businessopedia or our licensors and shouldn't be copied or reused without permission. We aim to keep the information on this site accurate and up to date, but we don't guarantee it's complete or error-free, and we're not liable for any loss arising from reliance on it. We may update these terms from time to time, and continued use of the site means you accept the current version.

12. Complaints

If you're unhappy with any aspect of our service, please email us at info@businessopedia.co.uk with details of your concern, and we'll look into it and respond as quickly as we can. If your complaint relates to a product or service provided by one of our Partners, we may need to direct you to them, or to their relevant regulator, to resolve it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The version published on this page is always the current one.
